Description

Darlington, County Durham born centre half Ossie Park began his football career with junior clubs Cockerton in 1922, Cockerton St Mary’s in 1923 and Darlington Railway Athletic in 1924. He joined First Division Newcastle United in November 1924 and made his Football League debut at Bolton Wanderers in August 1925, playing 5 times during Newcastle’s League Championship season in 1926-27. He played 20 games for The Magpies in 1927-28 but was sent on loan to Connah’s Quay & Shotton in 1929 and 1930, before playing twice more for Newcastle’s first elevenin the autumn of 1930, leaving St James’ Park in May 1931 to join Northampton Town after 43 appearances.

He had three years at The County Ground, making 79 appearances for The Cobblers, before joining Hartlepools United in July 1934. He scored twice in 115 appearances over the next three seasons for ‘Pools, before a brief spell with non league North Shields in 1937, returning to Victoria Park in November 1937 to play 8 more times for Hartlepools before joining non league Consett at the year end.
