Description

Fenton, Nottinghamshire born centre half Tom Parker had joined Sheffield Wednesday in 1914 from Carr Vale but failed to make a first team appearance at Hillsborough before the interruption of peacetime football due to World War One. Parker served in the Royal Army Service Corps and the Royal Field Artillery of the British Army during the First World War, and after the War joined Bolsover Colliery in 1919, from where he joined Luton Town making his Football League debut in their inaugural Football League fixture at Swindon Town in August 1920. However he lost his place in 1921 and transferred to Portsmouth the following year after 40 appearances for The Hatters, making 34 first team appearances as Portsmouth won the 1923-24 Third Division (South) Championship. In 1925 he joined Wrexham after a single Pompey goal in 47 appearances, and he scored twice in 35 appearances for Wrexham during 1925-26 before retirement from professional football.
