West Stanley, County Durham born winger George Pearson began his football career with West Stanley in 1922 and played for Annfield Plain in 1923 before spending 1924-25 on the books of First Division Bury, without making a first team appearance. He joined Second Division Chelsea in January 1926, making his Football League debut at Swansea Town that April, and establishing himself as a regular member of the first team from the start of the new season. He scored 12 goals, his career best, as Chelsea were promoted as Second Division runners up in 1929-30, and he continued as a mainstay of the team for a further two seasons in the top flight despite some of the higher profile signings made by the club.
However he lost his place at the start of the 1932-33 season and only played 3 more times that season before leaving Stamford Bridge in the 1933 close season to join Luton Town after 35 goals in 215 appearances for The Pensioners. He had a single season at Kenilworth Road scoring once in 14 appearances for The Hatters, before joining Walsall in the summer of 1934, where he finished his football career in 1935 after 16 appearances.
NB in the photograph he is shown with Chelsea team mates (l-r): Tommy Law, Andy Wilson and Jack Townrow.
