Description

Bristol born Fred Pincott, a centre half, began his career with Victoria Albion In the first division of Bristol & District League and then signed professional forms for Wolverhampton Wanderers, in November 1931, immediately making his Football League debut against Arsenal, also playing the following week in a heavy defeat at Manchester City. He also toured the South of France with Wolves the next summer.

He joined Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic in May 1934 and stayed with the club until the outbreak of war in September 1939 altogether making 221 first team appearancss, including 93 consecutive matches.

He was guest player with Bristol City during the Second World War, and served in the Army with The Devonshire Regiment. He also played for Chester and Bath, and in two Command games, as well as for Dartford.

On demobilisation in 1946 he took up an appointment with Gravesend and Northfleet, in the Southern League before returning to Football League action with Newport County in July 1947, for whom he made 14 appearances in the first half of the next season before joining non league Bideford in 1949. After going to Birmingham on a FA. coaching course, he joined Exeter City in 1949 as a coach, and played and coached for Bideford in 1950-51, also playing for St Martin’s before his retirement from the game.
