Description

Clerkenwell, London born amateur footballer Billy Porter was an outside left who started his career with Ilford in 1900 and first played for London Caledonians in 1901. He joined Southern League club Fulham in 1901 and played for them for three seasons,  playing once again for both Ilford and London Caledonians in 1904, as well as Wanstead in 1905. In February 1905 he joined Chelsea and when they were elected to The Football League the same year, he made his Football League debut in a Second Division match against Lincoln City in February 1906, playing once more for The Pensioners before the season end and once in February 1907.

During 1907 he had spells with Southern League clubs Brighton & Hove Albion and Luton Town and once again rejoined London Caledonians. He had a third spell with Ilford in 1910 and that October joined Second Division club Clapton Orient but didn’t make their first eleven, returning to Ilford where he finished his career.
