Description

Cannock, Staffordshire born inside forward (who played both sides) Arthur Potts played for Willenhall Pickwick, Hednesford Town and Willenhall Swifts before joining First Division club Manchester United in 1913, making his Football League debut at Everton on Boxing Day that year. He played for Manchester United both sides of the First World War, scoring 5 goals in 29 appearances, before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 1920. He was part of the Wolves team that went to the 1920 FA Cup Final, losing to Tottenham Hotspur by 1 goal to nil at Stamford Bridge in April 1921. However he lost his place in the Wolves team in October 1921 and joined Walsall in the summer of 1922 after 10 goals in 42 appearances. He had a single season at Walsall playing only once for The Saddlers’ first team in October 1922, before joining non league Bloxwich Strollers in 1923, subsequently playing for Dudley Town in 1924.
