Brierley Hill, Staffordshire born right half Freddie Price began his football career with Aston, playing for Wellington Street Citadels in 1910 and Dudley Town in 1911, winning junior international honours, from where he was signed by Second Division club Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1912, making his Football League debut at Grimsby Town in February 1913, immediately establishing himself in the first eleven. An ever present in their 1913-14 campaign, he missed only 3 matches in 1914-15 before the onset of the First World War forced the suspension of peacetime football in May 1915.
During the conflict Price served in the Armed Forces and also played wartime league football for Port Vale, but after the cessation of hostilities he returned to Molineux and played 31 matches in their first post war peacetime season, losing his place in April 1920. He signed for Second Division rivals Port Vale in the 1920 close season after 124 appearances for Wolves both sides of the War, but he stayed only a single season at The Old Recreation Ground, where he mainly played outside right, scoring once in 19 appearances before a move to Third Division (South) club Newport County, in July 1921. At Somerton Park he started at outside right but moved back to right half, at Christmas, scoring once in 30 appearances before retiring at the end of the season.
