Description

Polmont, Stirlingshire born centre half Luke Raisbeck played for Airdrieonians in 1897, from where he joined Sheffield United, spending 1898-99 on their books without making a first team appearance. He joined Third Lanark in 1899 before returning to England joining Second Division Middlesbrough, making his Football League debut against Luton Town in October 1899, scoring once in 19 appearances in a single season at Ayresome Park.

He joined Southern League West Ham United in the 1900 close season, and made his debut against Gravesend United that September, but played only 4 times that autumn for the first eleven before returning to Scotland to join Falkirk in 1901 and joining Clyde later the same year. He stayed 3 years with the Firhill club before joining Port Glasgow Athletic in 1904, In May 1905 he returned to the Football League joining Second Division Blackpool, where he made 18 appearances for The Seasiders during 1905-06. He later joined Lancaster in 1908, Ashton Town in 1909, and Barrow in 1910 before retirement.

He was a first cousin of Bill Raisbeck, who played for a variety of clubs including Hibernian, Sunderland and Derby County, Liverpool’s Scotland international Alex Raisbeck and of Andrew Raisbeck, who played for Hull City and Hibernian.
