Tow Law, County Durham born inside right and later right half Harry Raw began his football career with Tow Law Town, from where he was signed by First Division club Huddersfield Town in 1925, making his Football League debut at Manchester City in February 1926, playing twice as The Terriers won the League Championship. He then played 3 matches and 10 matches in the next two campaigns as Huddersfield finished successive seasons as League runners up.
In February 1929 he came into the team, struggling for the first time in the decade, and retained his place until September 1930, after when he played just 3 more matches for The Terriers before a transfer to West Bromwich Albion in March 1931 after 11 goals in 70 matches for Huddersfield Town. At Albion he remained a fringe player, the highlight of his spell at The Hawthorns being his appearance in their FA Charity Shield defeat to Arsenal at Villa Park in October 1931.
Having scored 7 goals in 27 matches, playing his last match for Albion in December 1932, he spent three seasons in the reserves before joining Third Division (North) club Lincoln City in the 1936 close season, where for the only time in his career be played in almost all the club’s fixtures, missing just two matches in their 1936-37 campaign where from November 1936 he filled the right half berth, remaining a regular through to May 1938, when he retired from professional football after 7 goals in 72 matches for The Imps.
