Dudley born full back Tommy Rodway began his senior football career with Southern League Wellingborough in 1902 from where he joined Second Division Preston North End, making his Football League debut against Blackpool at the end of April 1904, as Preston were promoted. A first team regular for the next 10 seasons, he played 37 games in 1905-06 as Preston finished runners up in the League Championship to Liverpool, and after their relegation in 1912 he helped Preston to win the Second Division Championship in 1913 playing 36 League games during the campaign, and eventually played his last match of 352 for Preston, having scored 10 goals (9 of which were penalties) in April 1915.
During the First World War he served in the Army, and after the War, already aged 40, he joined Chorley in 1919 and played for Fleetwood in 1920, playing for Dick Kerr’s XI in 1921 before his retirement.
