Hanwell, Ealing born full back Bertie Rosier started his football career with local amateur clubs Hanwell North End in 1911, Uxbridge in 1912 and Southall in 1913 before joining Southern League Brentford with his brother later in 1913. Rosier’s progress was halted by the outbreak of the First World War in 1914 and he went off to fight serving in the Army. After the Armistice, Rosier returned to Brentford and played in the successful London Combination title-winning side of 1919-20. After Brentford’s election to the Football League Division Three (South), Rosier made his Football League debut for the club in a 3-0 defeat at Exeter City in August 1920 in their inaugural League fixture. He went on to make 127 appearances for the club before departing for Second Division Clapton Orient in February 1923. He enjoyed 5 seasons at Orient, scoring once, a penalty, in a 2-1 win over Wolves in April 1925, and making 141 appearances before joining Southend United in the 1927 close season. He only stayed a single season at Roots Hall, being almost ever present with 42 appearances, before joining Fulham in the summer of 1928 and playing 2 further seasons at Craven Cottage, in total 57 appearances, before joining non league Folkestone in 1930.
