Ashford, Kent born right back Ambrose “Bud” Rossiter began his football career with Kent League club Margate in 1930 and played for Folkestone in 1932 before joining Third Division (South) club Crystal Palace in 1933, making his Football League debut against Brighton & Hove Albion in November 1933. A regular during the remainder of the 1933-34 season making 25 appearances during the campaign, he lost his place from the start of the following season and made only one further appearance for Palace at Clapton Orient in October 1934 before joining Gillingham in July 1935.
At Priestfield he started the 1935-36 season in the first team and held his place until December, but played only 5 more matches in the spring before leaving Gillingham after a single season, and 22 appearances, to join Clapton Orient in July 1936. Having started the season for The O’s with two matches at right back, he filled in for five matches at centre forward in April 1937 and scored twice in a 3-0 win over Southend United. He remained at the club into 1937-38 but never returned to the first team before his retirement from the professional game.
