Liverpool born goalkeeper Richard Scott was probably with Crewe Alexandra while a Central League club in the first two post First World War peacetime seasons, but after their accession to the Third Division (North) in 1921, Scott was their undisputed number one goalkeeper from their inaugural League match against Tranmere Rovers in August 1921 through to November 1925. In Crewe’s first season as a League club he missed only 5 matches they finished sixth in the Third Division (North), and only 4 matches as they repeated the achievement in 1922-23. He was a virtual ever present in 1924-25, missing only one match, but perhsps due to a career ending injury his last match came in a 1-1 draw against Tranmere Rovers in early November 1925 after he had played in 11 of their early season fixtures, having made 163 appearances for The Railwaymen, and his ongoing career thereafter is unknown.
