Lochgelly, Fife born left back Tommy Suttie began his football career with Lochgelly Rangers in 1903 and joined Scottish League Lochgelly United in 1904, going on to play for Cowdenbeath in 1905 and Leith Athletic in 1906. He moved to England to join First Division Blackburn Rovers before the end of the 1906-07 season making his Football League debut against Sheffield Wednesday in April 1907. He then had eight seasons on the fringes at Ewood Park, in his best season, 1908-09, he made 24 appearances as Rovers finished 4th in the League Championship, and when Blackburn won the League in 1911-12 he played 7 games, and none at all when they won it again in 1913-14. He played his last game of 109 for Blackburn in January 1915 before leaving to join Accrington Stanley, and after the First World War he played non league football for Darwen in 1918 and Great Harwood in 1919 before retiring.
His son David Suttie was also a footballer, and was on the books at Blackburn Rovers in the 1920’s without playing for their first eleven. He played over 100 games for Nelson and also appeared for Carlisle United.
