Frizinghall, Bradford born right half Harold Taylor played junior football for Little Horton Moravian Church in 1919 and Marshfield Athletic in 1920 before joining hometown Second Division professional club Bradford Park Avenue in July 1921 making his debut against Hull City that December. He only played 4 times as Bradford were relegated for the second successive season but from early 1923 established himself as a fixture in the first eleven, and after 5 seasons of close challenges for promotion, helped Avenue to the Third Division (North) Championship in 1927-28, playing a further 4 seasons in the Second Division before joining Southport in May 1932 after scoring 15 goals in 360 appearances over his 11 years at the club.
In contrast he stayed only a season at Haig Avenue scoring once in 25 appearances for Southport, and after a trial at Oldham Athletic he joined Stockport County in November 1933 where he scored twice in 12 appearances over the next 2 seasons. He finished his career with spells at Chesterfield in 1935-36, where he couldn’t force his way into their first team during their Championship winning season, and Bradford Park Avenue, who he re-joined in April 1936, retiring in 1937 without having added to his record of appearances for them.
