Paisley, Renfrewshire left back Bobby Templeton is a legend of Hibernian, having joined the Easter Road club in 1911 from junior club Neilston Victoria, making his Scottish League debut in a 2-2 draw at Raith Rovers. He went on to score 4 goals (all coming from the penalty spot in 1920) in 251 appearances over the next sixteen years, his final appearance coming in a 3-2 win over Celtic in February 1927, and he played in their 1914 Scottish Cup Final defeat when they lost 4-1 to Celtic in a replay at Ibrox after a 0-0 draw in the first match, although he didn’t play in either of their Cup Final appearances of 1923 or 1924.
He became player-manager of The Hibees in 1925 before retiring from playing in 1927, and continued as their manager until 1936, guiding them to the Second Division Championship in 1932-33 after their relegation in 1931.
