Kirkfieldbank, Lanarkshire born centre forward Willie Tennant played for Motherwell Welfare before signing for Scottish League club Motherwell in 1921. He first appeared on the scene in the early 1920’s when the likes of Willie McFadyen and Bobby Ferrier were at the club. Sadly though, he soon picked up injuries which curtailed his appearances in his early years at Fir Park. The club had viewed him as the man who would eventually take the reigns from talented forward McFadyen but this didn’t materialise and in the 1930 close season he moved to Third Division (South) club Norwich City after 50 goals in 112 appearances for The Steelmen.
He made his Football League debut at Exeter City in August 1930 and scored his only goal for The Canaries in a 2-2 draw at Watford on his second outing five days later. In all he played 12 matches for Norwich City before the year end before leaving the club in June 1931, the rest of his career is uncertain.
