Description
Willie Thomson was a member of the Queen of the South team of the mid and late 1930’s that enjoyed arguably the club’s most successful period in its history during which they had a prolonged period in the top flight of the Scottish League. In the Grand Tournoi International in May 1936 he scored as The Doonhamers beat Racing Universitaire d`Alger 2-1 in the semi final, and Thomson played as Queens then beat Racing de Santander 1-0 in the Final, the trophy still being on display in the Club museum.
