St Helens, Lancashire born centre half George Vose began his football career with Peasley Cross Athletic in 1932 before joining Second Division Manchester United in 1933, making his Football League debut at Plymouth Argyle in August the same year. In his debut season United barely avoided relegation from the Second Division, finishing twentieth, as Vose made 19 appearances, but from the start of 1934-35 he was a regular in the first team, missing only one game as United won promotion as Second Division Champions in 1935-36, and although they were relegated the following season, he was again a key player as The Red Devils bounced back to the top flight as Second Division runners up in 1937-38. His career was effectively ended by the outbreak of the Second World War, by when he had scored once in 211 appearances, and after the War he played non league football for Runcorn in 1945 before his eventual retirement.
