Description
Nathaniel “Nat” Whittaker had played for Tottenham Hotspur in their pre Southern League days, and became a successful football administrator, being both an FA Council member and Secretary of The Southern League, becoming its secretary in 1894 and serving for more than a decade. He was also a major league referee.
His brother Spen Whittaker played for many years for Oswaldtwistle Rovers and was the Secretary-Manager of Burnley from September 1903 to his tragic death in a train accident in April 1910.
