Holyhead, Anglesey born left half Owen Williams began his football career with South Liverpool before the First World War, and during the conflict he played wartime league matches for Liverpool, appearing twice in 1915-16 and once more in 1916-17. After the War he signed for Everton in 1919, making his Football League debut in a defeat against Arsenal that October, also playing once more for The Toffees in a 0-0 draw with Manchester United, both matches at Goodison Park.
After a further year of reserve team football at Everton, he signed for newly elected Third Division (North) club Wigan Borough in June 1921 and played in their inaugural League fixture at Nelson that August. He had two seasons of regular football for Borough but returned to Anglesey to play for Holyhead in 1923 after a single goal, the winner in a 1-0 win over Chesterfield in January 1923 in 63 appearances for Wigan Borough. In July 1924 he returned to Springfield Park and played once more for Wigan, in a heavy defeat at Doncaster Rovers that September, before finishing his football career.
